About this site
Tassi Ranch consists of a 1930s-era stone ranch house, a barn, corral, and a grove of huge cottonwood trees beside a seasonal stream called Pigeon Wash. The remains of a holding pond and irrigation canal can be seen a short walk from the ranch house. A vault toilet is on the bluff just south of the ranch along the NPS 1213 road.
Driving to the bluff just past the wash provides a beautiful view of the historic area. Learn more about Tassi Ranch on the National Park Service's website . Tassi Ranch is located within the Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument , which is jointly managed by the Bureau of Land Management and the National Park Service.
Safety and Conditions Before you explore the Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument , take some time to really plan your visit. Make certain you are prepared with the proper equipment, maps and knowledge of the region. Conditions change seasonally and often suddenly.
This is a beautiful but unforgiving landscape. You may encounter unexpected snowstorms, flash floods, lightning storms, impassable roads, extreme heat or cold, dried-up water sources, and high water from floods or runoff. You will need to plan for other potential hazards such as unmarked rugged roads and venomous animals.
Bring plenty of water, food, extra gasoline, and at least two spare tires. Carry matches or a lighter, a signal mirror and foul weather gear. Road conditions vary based on weather conditions.
We recommend high-clearance vehicles. Technology can make backcountry travel more comfortable, but be aware that cell phones, radios and GPS units may not work in many areas. Instead, make sure you have a detailed map to find your way.
Call ahead before coming to the monument. Obtain a map at the interagency Public Lands Center in St. George, Utah.
There is no first aid station on site. The nearest hospital is in St. George, Utah.
